The Intercultural Collective

The Intercultural Collective, which is a collaboration between the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), the Disability Cultural Center (DCC) and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, is a communal hub at the Schine Student Center where students can connect with one another.

The Barner-McDuffie House is a space that celebrates Black students and culture. Rooted in the University’s longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion and with a legacy of activism, the Barner-McDuffie House seeks to enhance the student experience by reinforcing Black culture across the African diaspora.

113 Euclid serves as a “home away from home” for Native students and a gathering place for those who are interested in exploring Native American culture and history. A student-led design represents the Haudenosaunee Confederacy alongside Turtle Island tribal communities.

The Syracuse University Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) Resource Center seeks to be a campus and regional leader delivering support, community and education around marginalized genders and sexualities, and the complex intersections of our multiple identities.

Additional Areas to Explore

Dimensions

Dimensions is a peer-to-peer mentoring program geared toward self-identified women of color. The program is specifically designed to provide mentoring to first-year/transfer women of color by pairing up with an upperclass woman who shares similar interests, and assists them in adapting to college life. This program endeavors to create a sisterhood for its members through intentional dialogue and activities that support self-confidence, academic success and cross-cultural engagement.

Living Learning Communities

The Multicultural Living Learning Community (MLLC) cultivates a racially and ethnically diverse living and learning environment for its residents. By focusing on multicultural education, cross-cultural communication and community activism, the MLLC furthers positive citizenship and social justice.

Men of Color Initiative

Men of Color Initiative, or MCI is a program designed to support, empower and explore issues unique to the experience of men of color in higher education. Through mentorship by peers, faculty, and staff, MCI promotes leadership development, academic support and service learning opportunities.

A recipient of a 2016 Lee Noel-Randi Levitz Retention Excellence Award, winner of a NASPA Excellence Award and honored by University Business magazine as a “Model of Excellence,” the WellsLink Leadership Program is an academic excellence and leadership program geared towards first-year students of color who are not already sponsored by athletics or state- or federally-funded programs. Through mentoring and a series of structured academic, social and cultural enrichment activities, WellsLink Scholars are poised for success and leadership at Syracuse University.

The Kessler Scholars Program

The Kessler Scholars Program is a transformative and supportive program for first-generation college students. As a Kessler Scholar, students become part of a community of well-rounded and talented students supplied with resources, support and robust opportunities for success. Syracuse University selects 15-20 incoming students who identify as first-generation students, or are the first in their immediate family to go to college to join the program.
